Full Report

Jensen Race Team headed to Norfolk for Round 1 of the HSCC Historic Formula Ford Championship, where Jacques was hoping for strong results and plenty of championship points to kick off the season. The number 52 Merlyn Mk20a was looking great in the sunshine following many hours of workshop preparation over the winter.

Luck was not on Jacques’ side, and the first test session on Friday ended abruptly after just 3 laps on track. The car was recovered back to the pit garage, where it was clear that the engine had suffered a catastrophic failure of the crank shaft. The team spent some time at the track attempting to locate a spare engine without any joy. Unfortunately this meant the team had to withdraw from the race weekend and turn their attention to round 2 at Donington Park.

Jensen stated, “It’s very unfortunate that we suffered an engine failure before the race weekend even got started, however we are not giving up and have already located another engine which is now being installed so we can be on the grid at Donington for Round 2. Watch this space!”
